A reception to honor long-time municipal
employees who have announced their retirement effective this month is
planned for 3:30 – 5 p.m., Thurs., Sept. 28, at Village Hall, 123
Madison St. The reception is an initiative of new Village Manager
Thomas W. Barwin and is intended to give residents an opportunity to
say "Public service is a calling for many, and those who answer it should be formally recognized and celebrated when their careers come to such an honorable end," Barwin said. "Oak Park has a long tradition of service – a tradition that I believe thrives not only in the community at large, but at Village Hall as well. This reception, and those that will occur in the future, are but small gestures of appreciation for jobs well done." Barwin said periodic retirement farewell
