A Rapper is Arrested for Being a Robber

report by Ed Vincent

He's not charged with stealing someone's songs, but their money.
Terrance Boykin, aka "Bump J" the rapper may
have a new moniker soon associated with his name-
Bank robber, not rapper.

Carbondale (
Illinois) Police arrested the 28 year old rapper
"Bump J" (
Terrance Boykins) after a local driving infraction
in Southern Illinois.  His name came up on a wanted list.  The
FBI is reported to have a warrant out for his alleged robbing
an Oak Park Bank last year.  It was a bad year for the local
Chase banks, one was robbed a few weeks before for $200,000
(
Madison Street Chase) and the other may have the rapper's
prints on it.  He is reported to have taken some $100,000
from the second Chase robbery.  Chase is in relatively good
financial shape with all the issues on Wall street, but their
vulnerability to robberies was something that needed to be
corrected.  The robberies were kept quite in the press, no
mention of the amounts by any of the media except for this
source.  When $300,000.00 is missing from one local Bank
that should be news.

Terrance Boykins was from the south side of Chicago and is reported to have sold drugs on the street with the 4 Corner Hustlers, a branch of the Chicago Vice-Lords (this gang did work in Chicago at the corners of North Ave. and Austin Blvd.).
Interviews with Boykin from years ago note that his brother
urged him to make something of his life, and then his brother
was killed in the neighborhood.  Terrance has been in McDonald's commercials and even had some parts in a
Madden Football game.  If he is found guilty of bank
robbery he could be looking at some 20 years behind bars.
