Another Oak Park bank is robbed in Broad Daylight

The Charter One Bank, located at 810 South Oak Park Avenue was robbed on
Wednesday a little before 3:00 p.m..  The heist was a small amount (average is about $5000)  for some of
Oak Park’s past amounts.   The past year or two have seen amounts of $200,000.00 taken from Chase on Madison street
in Oak Park and another
$100,000.00 from Chase at Madison and Oak Park Avenue (this last one has a story on it already published).

A black man about 25 years of age entered the bank and
handed over a
note asking for cash.  He did not threaten with violence or show a weapon,  but it is still a Federal crime and the Federal Bureau of Investigation will be taking charge soon on this case.

There were no external alarms sounded at the time of his
leaving the bank and no one ran from the bank.  A woman

on the Board of another Oak Park bank was across the street
at the time and
she said that nothing appeared out of the ordinary to her, and she was outside during the whole robbery.

The event would have been missed if not for the arrival of Police at the scene.  The one woman who had been across the street during the robbery told us that she did take some notice to a
Mini-van with an Illinois plate and colored a Blue-Green.  She
thinks it may have been a Chrysler or Dodge.

Their talk by some bankers that the Charter One had an unarmed guard working at the time of the robbery, but that
is unconfirmed at this time.
