Bank Donates over 63,000 Meals to
Area Food Banks
Local Bank helps fight hunger during its 3rd Annual Neighborhood Food Drive Orland Park, IL (August 3, 2010) –– Marquette Bank, a locally-owned neighborhood bank, recently completed its 3rd Annual Marquette Bank Neighborhood Food Drive, which ran from May 3 through June 26, 2010. During this time, Marquette Bank, with the help of customers, employees and neighbors, provided over 63,000 meals to neighborhood food pantries and local food banks served by the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD) and the Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB). The Neighborhood Food Drive was part of the Marquette Bank Neighborhood Commitment, where each quarter the bank focuses on a different area of need: shelter, hunger, education and health/wellness. “There is a strong need for food year round at the food banks,” said Betty Kosky-Harn, executive Vice President. “Marquette Bank would like to thank all of the employees and customers who helped make this year’s Food Drive a huge success.” Collection barrels, provided by the Greater Chicago Food Depository and placed at all 24 Marquette Bank locations, made it simple for customers and employees to drop off donations. Online donations were also made through a Virtual Food Drive that was easily accessible through the Marquette Bank website. Nearly 70 Bank employees and family donated over 200 hours volunteering at the GCFD during the food drive, taking shifts packing food.
