Caputo’s New Store, a treat and an Adventure Exciting would be a gross understatement
for the opening of the new Caputo’s Grocery at Grand Avenue and Harlem
in Elmwood Park. Members of my family have been buying from Caputo’s
for decades and always at the old original store, only a few blocks from
the newest location.
With a total of six stores in Addison, Bloomingdale, Elmwood Park, Hanover Park, Naperville-Plainfield, and South Elgin, they are well known in many a town and many folks come from surrounding towns to get their produce at their nearest Caputo’s. When visiting the newest store a few days ago for a second time we noted English, Slavic, Italian, and host of Mediterranean languages being spoken and each finding foods from their heritage. If I want special Greek olives I go to Caputo’s, the food selection is great and the prices are reasonable. The help is friendly and the store is huge compared to the first store a short distance away. The deli is large and the choices great. © Suburban Journals of Chicago Inc. photo Oak Parker's now have Trader Joe's which is treat like no other for grand foods and great prices and now a new Caputo’s and neither one of these have a bank, in it that seems to attract bank robbers from time to time. Like everything else you still have to keep an open eye on what's on sale and Caputo’s online is perhaps the best, though Trader Joe's is not bad either--compared to Jewel. The staff at Trader Joe’s is the nicest and most knowledgeable, but now the new Caputo’s is worth the ride too. Address: 2400
