Happy 4th of July 2010 after
234 Years of Freedom

It was hot, and humid day, but pictures are worth a thousand words and the smiles say a lot about the day and the event.  The parade also draws out a varied group of folks, some having little or nothing to do with Independence celebration.

The Animal Care League dogs took to their convertible rather than make the whole route on paws, too funny!

The Derby Lite ladies along with the Library Book Cart Drill Team seemed to get a big applause.

Sherlynn Reid, past director of Community Relations for the Village of Oak Park and past President of Oak Park's Nineteenth Century Club stands for a photo while someone is driving a four wheeled piggy bank.

Mila Tellez from the Oak Park Library board is now the President of the Oak Park's Nineteenth Century Club.  I wish they would get their pool working again.

"Roller Skating for Fun & Fitness for Women Old Enough to Know Better."  The organization is sort of women's club four
wheeled success.  Exercise with your gal pals or partners and burn calories while skating about.

Oak Park Library Trustees Janet Kelenson and Matthew Fruth Announce the Library, filled with books, recordings, knowledge and tons of talent...

Library staffers and book cart drill team member Jack Sadowski wears a SWAN hat to remind Library patrons that the new computer system named SWAN arrives July 14.

These folks are professionals,
short but sweet.....

This is not a Gentlemen's Club, it's the Animal Care League and they are having a Bunny Spa !!

Bunny Spa Day - 10am to 2pm

Animal Care League - 1011 Garfield St (map)

The Animal Care League will pamper pet bunnies on Sunday, July 11, from 10:00am to 2:00pm, at their shelter, 1013 Garfield in Oak Park. In addition to free nail trims and brushing for bunnies, advice on housetraining, health care and adoption will also be available. Special rabbit treats and toys, and Oxbow hay and pellets will be sold and refreshments will be served.

Those bringing bunnies for complimentary spa treatments are asked to bring them in a plastic pet travel carrier. Rabbits are the 3rd most popular pet in the United States and as their popularity continues to grow, shelters are seeing an increasing number of pet rabbits discarded and dumped, especially in the months following Easter. Rabbits can make great house pets, are easily litter trained, but do have special needs. The Animal Care League periodically has pet rabbits for adoption. The Animal Care League is a non-profit animal shelter based in Oak Park, Illinois.

The Oak Park Police Officer Standing is Officer Ed Hadac, the other Officer is in disguise and we can not reveal his name.

Jeanne Friedell and Michele Paladines created a lovely swan in the yard of Debby Preiser to celebrate the coming of the new computer catalog system to the Oak Park Public Library.

Have a Great Summer and thanks to Debby Preiser for the wonderful Parade photos.
