Oak Park Police Chief Rick Tanksley is Asking for the Firing of a 20 year Oak Park Police Officer, forgetting his own past sins.. commentary by Ed Vincent Officer Christian Priesmeyer is having his
job threatened by what many local Oak Park police believe is a grudge
that the Oak Park Police Chief has against the veteran of the
force. One reason could be that Officer Priesmeyer spoke a word
that the Chief took offense to. The Chief did not hear the word
in person, but was informed by Oak Park Police Sgt. Michael Richardson
who heard the private comment
reported to have been made by Officer Christian Priesmeyer in a private setting. Oak Park Police Sgt. Michael Richardson is with Oak Park Police Internal Affairs department. Officer Christian Priesmeyer was given 30 days off without pay for the event. Supervisory officers in adjacent towns found the 30 days excessive regardless of a miss spoken word, some were unaware of any local officers getting any longer time off. Some were also unaware that the man representing the Village in this action, Chief Tanksley got 45 days off for his own misdeeds, serious misdeeds. Oak Park officers have said that Christian Priesmeyer was a good family man, a fine officer and not one negative opinion. One did say he was a bit unusual, but did not elaborate in detail, though added he's a good cop. Officers have also noted that the department is very political now and everyone feels that they have to watch their own back. If you read the charges leveled at Christian Priesmeyer you might note a certain edge of apparent vindictiveness in the attempted action and in this case like throwing stones in your own glass house. The first hearing for the dismissal of this officer resulted in a continuation of the hearing and no decision made. Few, if any officers know every law that is enforced in the Village and the State of Illinois, (view the charges below with a link to show specific issues involved)that is why we have books and radios to help determine the action required or called for in specific instances. Whether an officer recalled reading a book or a brochure, a brochure or a chart, while in an office is so picayune to state as a breach of trust or mark of honesty in ones intent is almost painful to contemplate when the charge is coming from a less than moral pretext. (see below, the first link) It might be a good idea to let this issue rest and what was done and paid for with a severe 30 day suspension should be forgotten and forgiven. 01-12-2010-Priesmeyer-Tanksley-charges News and reports of Chief Tanksley's 45 day suspension and 18 month probation. ![]() ![]() © Suburban Journals of Chicago Inc. published by Suburban Journals of Chicago Inc. |
