Marquette Bank donates
over 62,500 meals

 to Neighborhood Food Banks

Employees, customers and neighbors fight hunger through
 4th Annual Neighborhood Food Drive

Marquette Bank, a locally-owned neighborhood bank,  wrapped up its Fourth Annual Neighborhood Food Drive, which began in early May.  With help from Bank employees, customers and neighbors, the Bank was able to collect more than 62,500 meals for families in need.  The food items collected were donated to the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD) and the Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB), where they will be distributed to local food banks and pantries in the Chicagoland area.  The Neighborhood Food Drive is part of the Bank’s Neighborhood Commitment, where each quarter the Bank focuses on a different area of need: shelter, hunger, education and health/wellness.

Over 75 Marquette Bank employees and family members volunteered more than 250 hours at the Greater Chicago Food Depository as part of the Bank’s 4th Annual Food Drive.

“Our Annual Neighborhood Food Drive continues to be a rewarding project by helping families through the Greater Chicago Food Depository and Northern Illinois Food Bank,” said Betty Kosky-Harn.  “We would like to thank all of our customers, employees and neighbors who donated and volunteered their time to help fight hunger.”

Collection barrels were provided by the Greater Chicago Food Depository and placed in all 24 Marquette Bank locations.  Employees, customers and neighbors were encouraged to bring non-perishable food items into the branches.  Online donations were also made through a Virtual Food Drive that was easily accessible through Marquette Bank’s website.  Over 75 Bank employees and their family members contributed more than 225 volunteer hours at the Greater Chicago Food Depository during the Neighborhood Food Drive, taking shifts sorting and packing food.

The Neighborhood Food Drive is a part of the Marquette Neighborhood Commitment,  where each quarter the Bank focuses on a different area of need: shelter, hunger, education,
and health/wellness.  To find out how you can help the Greater Chicago Food Depository, go to: www.chicagofoodbank.org or visit  www.northernilfoodbank.org for information on how to assist the Northern Illinois Food Bank.  For more information about Marquette Bank, call 1-888-254-9500 or visit www.emarquettebank.com.
