The Milwaukee Art Museum
review by Ed Vincent

The Milwaukee Art Museum in Wisconsin is housed in one
of the most fun designs you can imagine.  The Getty Art
Museum in Los Angeles is breath taking and enormous
and I almost broke my finger taking photos of it.  My first
hour at the Milwaukee Art Museum had me changing
cameras every few minutes and being exhilarated with
each shot taken.  The building is a thrill to stand in, and
even more fun to walk around in.  I will get to the exhibits
in a moment.  The striking white exterior contrasts with the
blue sky and waters of glorious Lake Michigan.  The building
is art itself.  If Chicago's Picasso in Daley Plaza, were to come
to life, it would travel to Milwaukee  and stay overnight in
the Milwaukee Art Museum.

There is parking beneath the museum in the belly of the building.
The underground parking garage is sleek, smooth, and gentle
in its curvaceous lines leading to inviting car ports.

The building is said to resemble a ship, a hooded warrior
about to take flight, or perhaps something completely different
that you will note.

The folk art from around the United States and Haiti is one
of the largest in the region.  The modern art is not only modern,
but fun.  The displays are thoughtful and creative their presentation.
When the setting sun mixes with the lake, the blue color creates
the background for the art that sets in front of it.  Wooden
floors, pastel walls, and spot lit polished art are all right at home.
