McMahon & Marino Football Legends & Stars reunite at Soldier Field in October
by Dan Peters

Soldier Field. August 12, 2003 The Chicago Bears 1985 Super Bowl Champion team will be back on the field this October as part of the Grand Opening events at the new Soldier Field.

Dream Events announced today the reunion at the new Soldier Field will be held October 11, 2003. This will the biggest gathering of the former Super Bowl Team since they played together back in the 80's. This once-in-a-lifetime "Flag Football reunion game will feature 1985 Bears legends led by the "Punky" QB Jim McMahon along with William "Refrigerator" Perry,  Dave Duerson,  Otis
Wilson, Willie Gault, Kevin Butler, Dan Hampton and Dennis McKinnon against an All-Pro team led by Dolphins Quarterback Dan Marino and legends Roger Craig, Ed "Too Tall" Jones, Billy Sims, Andre Reed, Eddie Payton and many other All-Pro Players from the 80's & 90's. Hall of Fame Bears linebacker Dick Butkus will
serve as an honorary captain.

After the short press conference announcing this historic event, several Bears players took to the new Solider Field as Jim McMahon tested out his arm for the first time in a long while. His passes to Dennis McKinnon looked good, but don't expect McMahon to come out of retirement any time soon other than the Flag Football game. " I am pretty much done with football now" he said.  I probably won't throw another football until October" he said.  McMahon looked like
he was in as good as shape as he did when he played football.  When asked if he worked out he replied "I have not worked out in three years"  he said.  He also said he has no specific diet that he uses to keep himself in shape. "I eat whatever I want and I love to drink beer" McMahon said.  I also asked Jim if he had any interest in Nascar racing after he had the opportunity to ride shotgun with Wally Dallenbach for a few laps recently at the Chicagoland Speedway. "No, I don't see me doing anything in racing" he said.  He did say, though, My youngest son (12 year old) has a passion for speed and loves all kinds of racing ... so you never know what might happen"

Gates will open at 10:00 am.
