Oak Park-River
Forest Community Foundation Reaches $10 Million Milestone with Edgar J.
Kaufman Endowment Fund
for the Restoration of Unity Temple
Oak Park --- When
executive director Keith Bringe of the Unity Temple Restoration
Foundation (UTRF) recently delivered a check for more than $100,000 to
the Oak Park-River Forest Community Foundation to establish its “Edgar
J. Kaufman Endowment Fund for Unity Temple Restoration” the Community
Foundation confirmed that this put them at
a milestone: $10 million in assets under management!
Keith Bringe said, “The
Oak Park-River Forest Community Foundation has such excellent fiscal
history, management and control, if you care about the future of our
community, they are a force for good. We are delighted, as a
partner non-profit to be present at the 10 million dollar mark.
This deserves a true celebration.”
“The Foundation is
thrilled to accept UTRF’s Fund and pleased to
manage these assets to help preserve this important Frank Lloyd Wright
landmark in our community,” Theresa Amato, the new executive director
of the Community Foundation, said. Amato noted that “more than 28
local community organizations, among many private donors, have their
assets managed by the Community Foundation and invited others to
consider the financial advantage and ease of housing assets with the
Community Foundation.”
David Valenti, the
Foundation’s president said that “managing local endowment funds is
just one example of how the Community Foundation provides advice and
assistance to local nonprofit organizations. The Community
Foundation, started in 1958, strengthens our community through
philanthropy by assembling financial resources to fund charitable
activities in Oak Park and River Forest. Last year the Foundation
granted more than $650,800 in scholarships and grants. As the
Community Foundation continues to grow, so will the amount we are able
to give to the community.”
Today there are more
than 700 community foundations in the United States managing
approximately $40 billion in community assets. For
more information about how to be a philanthropist in Oak Park and River
Forest, please call Donor Service Director David Weindling at
