A Large crowd of 40,726 was on hand
Saturday to witness
Sauter's first victory of the 2005 Busch Season and his third
career win.
Sauter, from Necedah, Wis., easily had the fastest car. He
led 162 of the 200 laps.
"It's overwhelming," Sauter beamed after the popular win.
"This is the biggest win of my career and to do it in front of
the home town crowd here in Milwaukee is unbelievable."

Sauter had the dominating car all day, first shattering the
track record in qualifying to earn the pole position and then
quickly streaking out to lead the opening 22 laps before
pitting for tires during the first caution flag. It was a move
that could have cost him dearly as few of the other leaders
followed him to pit road, electing instead to save their
allotted tires for later in the race. Sauter exited the pits in
sixteenth place and immediately began to slice his way
through the field, regaining the lead on lap 58.
"Taking tires so early was a call I questioned at first from
the cockpit but I didn't say anything," Sauter explained
afterwards.

On Lap 113, Sauter was the only driver on the lead lap,
but he tapped Tony Raines in Turn 4, sending Raines
spinning and bringing out the caution flag.
Race officials gave Sauter a black flag for rough driving,
making him move to the back of the line during the caution.
"I screwed up there and got into Tony Raines," Sauter
said. "It was a stupid mistake on my part, I guess."
"My car was so good tonight, I didn't even break a
sweat," Sauter continued. "We've killed a few cars the past
weeks and we had a team meeting last week where we
figured things out. This win is a big morale booster
for the team and as they say "winning fixes everything!."
