The Twelve Year Drought Is Over
In the middle of a cold winter a ray of sunlight shined on the Chicago
Bulls as
Derrick Rose was able to do what others have not accomplish since the
legendary
Michael Jordan twelve seasons ago, Rose was named to the Eastern
Conference
NBA All-Star team.
Rose who was scheduled to play on All-Star weekend February 13-14th in
the Freshmen versus
Sophomore game in Dallas was thrilled to be named to the All-Star team
by the
Eastern Conference coaches along with six other reserves. Rose in his
second
year has truly bloomed since his slow start due to pre-season ankle
injury is now
scoring nearly 20-points and 6-assist per contest. As usual Rose was
humble when
commenting on his latest accomplishment.
"It means a lot to me that my hard work finally pays off, said Rose.
There no way you can
compare me to him (Michael Jordan). I can't even fill his shoes and I
probably never will.
When you finally here it you don't believe it. It hasn't really hit me
yet."
Bulls Brass Couldn't Be Prouder
"We, as an organization, are absolutely thrilled for Derrick," said
Bulls General
Manager Gar Foreman. "He is truly deserving of being an All-Star, and I
couldn't
be happier that all of his hard work and dedication have paid off in
getting to
this point, as a player in only his second season. Perhaps more
importantly, it
speaks volumes about Derrick as a person and the family that he comes
from. We
know we can count on Derrick to represent the Bulls and the city of
Chicago with
a great deal of dignity and pride."
Paxson Believes - "Derrick Is Just Scratching The Surface"
"Derrick Rose is such a good kid who is just 21 and he carries himself
in such a good way,
said Executive VP of Bull Basketball Operations John Paxson. The best
thing is he has
been voted by the coaches and only seven guys from each conference are
voted in.
His skill level and talent is recognized by coaches throughout the
league.
Lets face it we have not had a all-star since Michael and you have to
have great
player to win in this league. Derrick is just scratching the surface in
terms of
how he is playing. he has been so assertive lately. I think people
assume it just going to
happen for guys but Derrick has just bloomed now.
I think an experience like the
All-Star game were he around the best players in the game where he can
see how
they approach the game and how they go about doing their business. I
think its gonna
make him better and better. Were very fortunate we have a young man
like this
to build around. All-Star Reserves
