Chicago Blackhawks

in Overtime. Lord Stanley Would
Be Proud of the Play !!!!!! report and commentary by Ed Vincent
The happiness of
the winning the Stanley Cup has spread to all of the city, there were
no north side versus south side teams today, just one Chicago-even
though it was almost entirely northsiders and suburbanites. A
different crowd from basketball fans and baseball fans.
Hall of Fame Hockey Players Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita and Tony
Esposito were on the buses in the parade, and later stated that, "The
cup is here, and we'd love it to stay here a little longer." The
crowd loved that comment and the count of the crowd was in the hundreds
of thousands by some accounts, but we're going to call it a million!!!
Chicago Blackhawks Captain Jonathan Toews was only a few months away
from getting his Karate Black belt in Taekwondo and chose not to finish
it because of his intense training in hockey. I am sure some of
that focused energy works well in shots and helping others to the
boards.
"I'll tell you
one thing. I'll try to keep my shirt on all summer just for you guys,
for all the cab drivers
out there." Chicago
Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane was in Buffalo, New York last year with
his older male cousin doing some fundraising work for the city with
Mayor Byron Brown. He later went to a bar with his brother and might
have had a beer or two. They
reportedly called a cab at about 4:00 a.m. and were driven home.
The ride might have been interesting and when they paid the driver he
said he did not have any change, and it was only 20 cents they were
due. Some punches were thrown according to police records and
charges were filed against Kane. It has all been settled now--but
he still remembers the ride....
Chicago
Blackhawks Captain Jonathan Toews looked out at several hundred
thousand people gathering for their appearance and exclaimed, "I
didn't know there were this many people in Chicago."The Blackhawks games were sparse many years
ago when the older Wirtz did not want television broadcasting of the
home games. In the past there had been times when only a few
thousand folks would come to the games at home, and I had neighbors who
went to every game. Now
you might be lucky to get a ticket to next years games.
The young
stars of BILLY ELLIOT were cheering on the Blackhawks last
night! The ‘Hawks won just in time for Tommy Batchelor to come out for
his final bow with his Blackhawks Hat on, too! photo

1929 B&W 16mm home movies of a
Chicago Blackhawks hockey game. The uniforms appear to be correct. The
footage is pretty dark. Interesting to see hockey from that era. Also
shows how they cleaned the ice in the pre-Zamboni era. Games back then
were played at the Coliseum.
