CHICAGO SHAKESPEARE THEATER ENTERTAINS FAMILIES ALL SUMMER LONG ON NAVY PIER Performance and Pricing Schedule Set for Summer Theater Festival Chicago-April 15, 2005-This summer, Chicago Shakespeare Theater enters its sixth season of entertaining Chicagoans, their families and guests with the LaSalle Bank Family Festival of Plays-a theater festival offering affordable, music-filled productions with something for everyone-all summer long on Navy Pier. Second City's Romeo and Juliet Musical-The People vs. Friar Laurence, The Man Who Killed Romeo and Juliet, by Ron West and Phil Swann, once again partners Second City and CST in the theater Upstairs at Chicago Shakespeare for the PG-13 musical comedy spoof of the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Second City's Romeo and Juliet Musical begins June 14, the Press Performance is June 21, and performances are scheduled to run through August 14 as follows: Tuesday through Friday at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.; and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $25-$30; Group rates for 20 or more are $22-$27; and a special "buy-out" offer for weekday performances (Tues-Thurs), including a reception space and a private performance for groups up to 180, is available for $2,500. Chicago Shakespeare Theater presents a new family musical, The Princess and the Pea, loosely based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale. This hilarious fractured tale will delight families throughout the summer in Chicago Shakespeare's beautiful Courtyard Theater. The Princess and the Pea begins June 29, the Press Performance is July 2 at 2:00 p.m., and performances are scheduled to run through August 14 as follows: Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.; Thursday through Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for children, aged 12 and under. Groups of 20 or more receive a discounted rate of $15 for adults and $10 for children. Completing the summer program, David H. Bell's production of Short Shakespeare! The Comedy of Errors returns to CST's Courtyard Theater to introduce Shakespeare to audiences of all ages. This 75-minute abridged production tells the wildly chaotic comedy of identical twin brothers and their identical twin servants lost in a mixed-up world of mistaken identities. Short Shakespeare! The Comedy of Errors begins July 13, the Press Performance is July 16, and performances are scheduled to run through August 13 as follows: Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for students, aged 18 and under. Groups of 20 or more receive a discounted rate of $15 for adults and $10 for students.
