These are wonderful Rodeos for the entire family and they even have a price limit on a car full of people. The action starts early and last until the night fall. If you have not seen a a real "Old West Rodeo", you should plan a visit on your trip to see the Dinosaurs. They have "Mutton Bustin", little kids, to the powerful and wild Bull Riding. It all sort of reminded me of NASCAR without the cars. ![]() A Fast Ride and then a little gravity comes into play. © Oak Park Journal photo ![]() Out of the gate and not late to make the fans hold their breath and count the seconds. © Oak Park Journal photo ![]() The Rodeo is Very popular with the locals and the tourists. © Oak Park Journal photo ![]() ![]() ![]() Mostly locals in the crowds, no baseball hats worn backwards out here. © Oak Park Journal photo ![]() Almost as many women on the horses as the men. © Oak Park Journal photo ![]() Another woman with a fast horse and a fast calf too. © Oak Park Journal photo ![]() The sun stars to retreat as the lights begin to ignite. © Oak Park Journal photo ![]() The sun sets, but the fun is not ready for the bed yet. © Oak Park Journal photo ![]() ![]() ![]() It was a beautiful night and all the riders went home safe. © Oak Park Journal photo The event had plenty of drama, one young man had fallen off the bull and had the wind knocked out of him pretty well and others just met the ground either sooner or harder than they would have liked. The experience was well worth the visit. http://www.gofruita.com/rodeos.html ![]() © Oak Park Journal photo ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Museum of Western Colorado http://www.wcmuseum.org/ Museum of Western Colorado Dinosaur Digs http://www.dinodigs.org/ toll-free 1-888-488-DINO ![]() © Oak Park Journal published by Suburban Journals of Chicago Inc. |
