Zen Community of Oak
Park will host a Day of Reflection. Experience a day of Zen practice including meditation, service, private interviews with Zen Master,

Inner Disarmament Workshop: Communication Skills for the 21st Century will be take place August 12-14, 2005 at the Zen Community of Oak Park. This workshop is open to anyone wishing to learn how to work more effectively with their emotions. It will teach you specific communication skills that give you more confidence in working with conflict and difficult people. You will learn
the power of empathic listening, thereby enhancing
intimacy in your relationships and functioning in groups, organizations, churches, businesses and families. The workshop includes many experiential role-plays to help
you integrate the material. The workshop begins with an orientation on Friday night, August 12 from 7 to 9 pm. It continues Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm, and Sunday from
9 am to 3 pm. Cost is $175/$150 for Zen Community members. To register, call 708-445-1651 or register online
at www.zencommunity.org. The teacher of this workshop, Robert Althouse, has been giving these workshops all over America since 9/11. The workshop integrates Nonviolent Communication skills as taught by Marshall Rosenberg
and the Three Tenets of a Peacemaker. Althouse is a Zen Master and ordained Zen Buddhist priest.
